What is Porsche Active Suspension Management

The Porsche Active Suspension Management system allows you to personalize your Porsche driving experience by altering some of the vehicle’s suspension characteristics.

The Porsche Active Suspension Management system allows you to personalize your Porsche driving experience by altering some of the vehicle’s suspension characteristics. Keep reading to discover how the PASM enhances ride comfort and handling.

Porsche Active Suspension Management

Porsches with the active suspension management system allow you to change the vehicle’s height and damper settings to fit different driving styles. Each wheel adjusts independently and automatically according to one of the four driving modes:

  • Normal
  • Sport
  • Sport Plus
  • Off-road

While normal mode achieves an ideal balance between ride comfort and handling, sport and sport plus modes prioritize peak performance whether you’re cornering backcountry roads or mastering the track. Porsches with off-road mode enjoy greater ground clearance and performance while traveling over various surfaces in different conditions.

Adjusting Suspension Settings

There are several ways that you can change the driving mode for your suspension, depending on your Porsche model. Some Porsches have a suspension button on the console, while others have one on the dash. You can also adjust the suspension by navigating to your chassis settings in the Porsche Communications Manager.

Ride Heights

The suspension management system allows you to manually raise and lower your chassis. For normal and sport driving, medium is the default setting. Altogether, you can choose from one of four available ride height options:

  • High
  • Medium
  • Lowered
  • Low

While these four settings coincide with the drive modes, allowing you to customize it manually enables a more personalized driving experience. A ride height of High is geared toward driving off-road and raises the vehicle chassis 10 mm above the height for medium. In lowered and low, you can optimize your Porsche for more spirited driving by lowering its ride height by 10 mm and 20 mm below the medium setting.

Smart Lift

Smart Lift adjusts the Porsche’s ride height based on its GPS location. For example, you can program Smart Lift to raise your Porsche’s ride height when you’re near home and want to enter your garage.

To save a location for Smart Lift, navigate to the chassis settings in the touchscreen menu, then select Lift. On the next popup, confirm that you want to save that location.

PASM with Air Suspension

The air suspension on Porsches with the active suspension management system ensures the vehicle maintains an even ride height with its self-leveling feature. Considering the driving mode’s settings, the self-regulating functionality adjusts for variance in road conditions, enhancing the comfort of you and your passengers.
