Porsche Interior Maintenance: Care and Cleaning Tips
Wash Your Mats First
When cleaning out your car, remove any clutter or trash that may be in it before removing your floor mats. Then, wash your floor mats with water and a type of cleaner that’s appropriate for the material the mats are made out of. Upholstery or carpet cleaner is best for carpeted mats, while rubber mats can be cleaned with a soft bristle brush and car wash soap mixed with water. Now you can leave your mats to dry while you focus on the rest of your car.
Vacuum Absolutely Everything
When you vacuum you can’t your car, it’s natural to do the seats on the floors. However, it’s also helpful to run your vacuum over the cupholders, the area between the windshield and your dashboard, and anywhere that dust or debris could accumulate.
Break Out the Disinfectant
If you want your car to be as clean as it can possibly be, then use disinfectant and a microfiber cloth to clean your dashboard and vents. Always avoid bleach-based products when doing this. Disinfecting doesn’t just get rid of germs, but it can wipe off any dirt buildup that difficult to notice, leaving your car looking cleaner overall.
Make sure you also carefully clean your console and disinfect that, too, including in between any buttons in the vehicle. Being careful is key. The steering wheel, cupholders, and door panels should also be cleaned well.
Treat Your Seats
Although vacuuming the seats cleans away dirt and debris, there’s still more you can do for them. Leather seats should be cleaned with a leather cleaner and then conditioned using a leather conditioner. This helps keep the leather supple and looking like new.
Cloth seats should get spot treatment to remove any stains using any high-quality stain remover. You can then use upholstery cleaner on the surface of the seats, using a scrubbing brush to get the product deeper into the fabric. Use a water-dampened microfiber cloth to rinse away the product, but don’t soak the seat.
Use Glass Cleaner For Windows
The interiors of the windows should always be cleaned with an alcohol-based glass cleaner. Use this on the inside of your front and rear windshield, too. Use a microfiber cloth to apply the cleaner to the glass, and then use a second clean microfiber cloth to wipe off the product. This minimizes streaking.
